Latina Republican Forces Washington Post To Issue Retraction

Rep. Anna Paulina Luna (R-FL) blasted the Washington Post for publishing an article intended to smear her reputation — forcing them to issue a retraction.

The Washington Post claimed in their article that Luna had a history of identifying as different ethnicities based on what would serve her agenda, and also accused her of lying about her upbringing.

Luna ripped into the left-wing outlet in a series of tweets, undermining the credibility of the article’s sources and claims.

“Holy s*** the Washington post just tried to claim my dad was never incarcerated, left out comments from my mom, said I was a registered Democrat, and did not report a convo they had with a former roommate, and interviewed ‘family’ I don’t talk to. This is comical,” the Republican congresswoman tweeted on Thursday.

Luna went on to share screenshots that refuted or contradicted some of the Washington Post’s claims — which were originally posted by Matt Braynard, executive director of Look Ahead America.

She also revealed that one of the sources for the article had “changed her story, and after stating that Fox News never reached out to her (lie), is saying the @washingtonpost did not accurately report my story (fact).”

“With that, I rest my case,” Luna added.

So far, the left-wing news outlet has issued a retraction of one claim.

“A previous version of this story incorrectly stated that Anna Paulina Luna was registered as a Democrat in Washington state in 2017 based on an erroneous voter registration database. Washington state only requires voters to declare their party affiliation when they cast a ballot in a presidential primary,” the Washington Post wrote.

If the outlet does not issue more corrections, Luna plans to pursue legal action against them.

“Here come the receipts,” she wrote in a follow-up tweet, including a fire emoji.

“We have sent letters from my attorney to the Washington Post & Salon to issue corrections or we will sue,” Luna added. “We are also sending to Vanity Fair, Business Insider, Yahoo News, Independent, and any other outlet that reports false info.”

The Republican congresswoman appeared on Fox News Channel’s “Jesse Watters Primetime” to discuss the Washington Post’s hit piece, the “bizarre” claims and potential motivations behind the smears. She also noted that other outlets, including Vanity Fair, have jumped on the bandwagon to report on the story before the corrections were made. Luna said that she has issued “letters to correct” to the other outlets as well.
